Rooting through some old CD boxes this morning, I found my much-played copy of Electronic's Getting Away With It, and was driven to wonder the following:Am I utterly delusional, or is that one of the most simple yet elegant record cover designs of all time?
I like it, but I'd like it a whole lot more if it was on the gatefold sleeve of a vinyl album. That was when album art meant something.
ReplyDeleteIt was released in about 1989, so I think it was on vinyl and CD (and cassette single) alike. Very lovely image, I have to say. The problem with downloads and CDs is there's less tangible packaging and paraphenalia, isn't there?

Downloads in particular remove the pleasure of ownership. All you have to show for your purchase is some words on a screen.
